Meet Niko HABER
Niko Haber is a Dancer, Choreographer and Creative Director for his own Dance Company, Ikonic Dance Co. in the North Bay. He first took inspiration in dance watching Choreo Cookies perform at a local event in San Diego. It inspired him to pursue dance so he started an after school program in highschool. It became a space to exchange, learn and share knowledge in dance and later became a collective called Diversity Movement.
He attended Napa Valley College and continued exploring new styles in dance such as Modern, Jazz, and Ballet. Retaining his love for hip hop; he joined a collegiate team called Natural Order. Founded by Joey Dominguez & Omari Johnson. He later became an artistic director for the Crew and started teaching team workshops as well as co-directing their showcases. After a couple of seasons with Natural Order, he decided to audition for Chapkis Dance. He made the Adult Hip-Hop Crew and performed/competed with Prophecy at various events such as Underconstruction, Hip Hop International and WOD.
He gained more experience teaching classes at various dance studios, high school and college facilities in the North Bay. In March 2019, He started his own Dance Company Ikonic Dance. He Co-directs with Shawn Jaico and together they started teaching an inclusive space for all experience levels and over the years they grew to form multiple teams of all ages. Since then they have performed/competed in various events and even held their own showcases .
June 2024 he started working at Farnsworth Dance Academy as an instructor & Creative Director. In his first season, he lead the competitive teen/senior hiphop group and earned first place at Tremaine Dance Competition with Judges Ovation & Faculty Showcase pick. With his experience, he strives to do the same for his now competitive Youth Team and Ikonic Teams.
meet shawn jaico
Shawn is a dancer, choreographer, and co-director of Ikonic Dance. In his early years, Shawn had always been an active kid interested in art and creativity. Shawn was enrolled into local junior hip hop dance team after watching and attending his younger brother’s rehearsals. This dance team happened to be directed & choreographed by Greg Chapkis. From that point on, Shawn fell in love with dance and followed Greg to his new and own studio, Chapkis Dance.
After years of now training, performing, competing, and assisting, Shawn had finally started learning to teach and choreograph with inspiration and guidance from Greg Chapkis, Melvin Timtim, Antoine Troupe, and so many more talented dance mentors. Shawn went on to compete at Hip Hop International and place 1st in the USA, make it to Semi Finals in America’s Got Talent, travel to Shang Hai, China for Volkswagen car show, tour in Europe and teach his first master class in Italy, finally meet Niko Haber, and many more opportunities along side his Chapkis Dance Family.
Sadly, Shawn’s time with his home studio had come to an end while entering adulthood for work and school. Over the years while taking this hiatus from Chapkis, Shawn was training in not only hip hop, but contemporary, jazz, modern, and heels from Napa Valley College, Niko Haber, and classes from the Bay to SoCal.
In the Summer of 2019, Niko & Shawn finally debut their new dance business, Ikonic Dance. Shawn & Niko created this business intended on creating a safe space to bring back dancers out of retirement, bring in dancers of other backgrounds and styles, and just individuals who’ve never ever tried dancing, all together. Today, Shawn has fully returned to dance, training and teaching around the Bay Area. Shawn is very most proud to be a dancer, choreographer, and co-director of the ever growing & always improving Ikonic Dance.
